The phrase 'Burying your head in the sand' has been echoed by debt advisors at Integrity who say that "approx 35% of people admit to neglecting their finances and think that the problem of debt will simple just go away". Of the 17 million adults, 21% said this was because they had too much debt to feel financially secure, 32% are not paid enough, and 25% simply try not to think about money in their day to day lives. The research was recently conducted by Scottish Widows, and it shows clearly how bad personal finance really is in the UK currently. On a daily basis Integrity Financial Services Limited are seeing an increase in people needing debt help and advice and a large proportion of the people who contact them say they simply did have the time or energy to do anything about it. The worse thing people can do is 'brush it under the carpet' thinking that it will go away. They need to sit down and physically work out their budget. If they are not managing to keep up minimum repayments and pay basic household bills then they have a serious problem that they need help with before it gets out of hand. Too often Integrity see people have been mis-sold a debt solution only be charged high fees for nothing or advised to enter into a solution by charitites to then find out that it was not suited to their actual individual financial situation. Ultimately extending their debt problem and not clearing their debts. If you have a debt problem then you need professional help and advice and ALL the available debt solutions in the UK should be explained to you clearly so you understand them.
