Concern Over Energy Debt

posted on 29 July 2010 | posted in General Category  | ( 0 ) Comments

New energy debt figures from Ofgem are the `tip of an iceberg`.

The figures show that 1.1 million electricity customers and 800,000 gas customers are `officially repaying a debt`.These figures raise growing concerns about the affordability of gas and electricity in Britain today.

The actual number of customers entering into new debt repayment plans with their providers rose 19% for electricity and 18% for gas. Meanwhile, the average level of electricity debt being repaid increased from £256 to £277, while the average level of gas debt rose from £209 to £287.

Gas and electricity are essentials in the home - people can`t live without them, especially during winter months. We would advise anyone who can`t afford these expenses, or is forced into debt in order to pay for them, to contact us without delay.

The sooner an individual seeks advice, the sooner the problem can be solved.
